The Nile Empire since the Possibility Wars
The term The Nile Empire is usually reserved to mean the realm of Doctor Mobius when he invaded Earth. In this case, it refers to Dr. Mobius’ Empire on Terra, which is considerably greater.
After Mobius went to Earth to conquer its reality, he left his Nile Empire in charge of Akhenaton, an ambitious and cruel man who wishes to bring back the glory days of the Egyptian Empire. He ruled quite succesfully, bringing the new colonies in Central America, South Africa, and India to Mobius’ control. However, when Mobius “perished” in the battle which marked the end of the possibility wars, Wu Han returned to claim his throne. Since he was of higher rank in Mobius’ government, the right to the throne was his. He told everyone Mobius’ dying command had been that Wu Han control the Empire as he saw fit. His method of doing so was to open trade with the Orient. The coastal cities around the eastern Mediterranean began to thrive with illegal trade, and whispers started spreading throughout Terra of strange occult items for sale in the Middle Eastern bazaars.
A few months into the new invasion, Dr. Mobius managed to find his way back to his Nile Empire on Terra, forced to take the Core Earth bridge. He has regained control of his throne, much to the chagrin of Wu Han, but has decided to let the illusion of his Death go on for a while longer.
The Nile Empire is the second largest power in the world of Terra, rivalling that of the English empire. It originated in Egypt, where Dr. Mobius started his first crime organization upon his return from Khem. It grew over the course of a hundred years into the Empire it is now. Through colonization, Mobius has expanded beyond the simple coundaries of Egypt to cover nearly all of Africa, most of the Middle East to India, parts of Indonesia, Australia, and Peru. Now, of course, the Nile Empire also contains lands in Mexico, India, and Pakistan. Mobius now has his eyes set on the United States, although he knows it would mean open war.
The Terran Nile Empire is very like the realm on Earth was, since the realm was designed to match Mobius’ home back on Terra. The only real difference is the addition of the new colonized lands, and the presence of the Egyptian Gods themselves.
The Gods here on Terra aren’t limited to having to manifest through a Walking God statue, although that is their preferred choice. Each of them has a “home,” a temple hidden in the vast desert or forgotten valleys surrounding the Nile. Depending on the God or Goddess, it may or may not have fallen into a state of disrepair. A person seeking a God or Goddess must find the hidden chamber in the God’s temple, where they will pass into a time of legends. This is a pocket dimension of sorts, resembling earliest Egypt, when humans were first dwelling there and building the first crude settlements. The Gods walk there, and the finite dimension is a living mythology lesson with Re’s chariot sun, Nut forming the sky, et cetera. A God or Goddess, given proper desire, can summon a character to this mythological dimension at any time from anywhere, but to go without summons requires finding a gate, such as those in the Gods’ temples.
